Customized Day Programs (Adult Developmental Training)

ACHIEVA's Customized Day Programs, located in the Strip District, West Mifflin and Greensburg, are designed to support a diverse group of individuals with disabilities. Within these two programs, a therapeutic approach is geared towards creating social, recreational and vocational opportunities. We strive to provide supports that are individualized, flexible and tailored to fit specific participant needs. All components of the program are geared towards assisting participants in attaining their personal outcomes.

Participants learn about themselves and the world around them through structured and enriching activities including: functional academics; art; music and drama therapy; a multi-sensory ennvironment; exercise; community outings and guest speakers. Skill training is available in a variety of areas and participants decide what to concentrate on and what goals to work toward. Vocational opportunities are offered through contract work, community-based employment and volunteering. Most individuals in the Adult Training Facility are supported at a staff to participant ratio of 1:6, although sometimes more intensive support is required. Assistance is available in the areas of medication administration, meal preparation and personal hygiene.

Our Senior Program, located at our Strip District and Greensburg facilities, is an extension of our Adult Training Facility and is designed for older adults who no longer prosper in a traditional day or vocational setting, but are looking for constructive and enriching ways to spend their days. Opportunities are available for social interaction with peers in a safe and relaxed environment. Program staff provide therapeutic supports in line with each individual's desires and abilities. Individuals are supported at a 1:6 level.
