Representative payee services provide the security of money management using a safe and organized approach that includes the management of checking accounts, tracking and maintenance of payments and savings and allocation of money for day-to-day living expenses, while adhering to the Social Security Administration's accounting guidelines. A representative payee helps beneficiaries who need assistance in managing their benefits. A representative payee’s responsibilities include:
  • Using benefits to pay for the current and foreseeable needs of the beneficiaries
  • Appropriately saving any remaining benefits
  • Keeping good records on how you spent the benefits
