Achieva, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services for people with disabilities, announces the departure of
Shayne Roos, Executive Vice President of Achieva and President of Achieva Support. Shayne, who is relocating his family to North Carolina, has served as President of Achieva Support since 2020. His last day will be July 14th.
Shayne began his journey with Achieva in 2002 in the Vocational Supports Department of Achieva Support, the largest affiliate within the
Achieva Family of Organizations. He quickly rose to become the Vice President of Achieva Support, a role he held for nearly eight years before becoming President. Under his leadership as President, Achieva Support underwent a major transformation, shifting from operating large, congregate-care programs, including “sheltered workshops” that paid workers with disabilities sub-minimum wage, to providing integrated community-based services and typical employment opportunities that pay competitive wages. Shayne is also credited with ushering in person-centered approaches to all Achieva Support services.
“Shayne Roos has been instrumental over the past decade in helping Achieva develop the supports and services that people with disabilities really want - ones that are more inclusive and person-centered,” said Steve Suroviec, CEO of Achieva. “His dedication and leadership have shaped the services we offer and positioned Achieva Support for the future. We are deeply grateful for his decades of service to Achieva and the people we support, and we wish him nothing but the best in North Carolina.”
Stepping into the position will be
Court Hower, who will serve as Interim President of Achieva Support. Court joined Achieva late last year as a Senior Vice President of Achieva Support. Court brings a wealth of experience, including having served as Chief Executive Officer of western Pennsylvania-based Disability Options Network. Court holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Penn State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law, with a concentration in real property and business law.
