Pittsburgh, PA (Feb 3, 2025)—Achieva is proud to announce a new wave of support for people with disabilities through the
Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund. The Fund continues to provide inclusive opportunities that help turn dreams into reality for people with disabilities.
In 2024, the Fund approved 37 applications totaling $33,330, helping to meet the unique needs and goals of each applicant. Examples included:
-
Exploring destinations like Splash Lagoon, the Louisville Zoo, and the Ark Encounter, and enjoying lake and beach vacations to create lasting memories.
-
Granting community activity memberships to Kennywood, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aviary, and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
-
Providing adaptive bikes and strollers to promote accessible recreation, along with active gifts like gym memberships and even a fencing club membership.
The Fund honors Cecil and David Rosenthal, long-time recipients of support from Achieva, whose lives were cut short in the Tree of Life synagogue tragedy.
All donations to the Fund ensure their legacy lives on by fostering inclusion and empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives in their communities.
Steve Suroviec, Achieva’s President and CEO, shared, “The Rosenthal Fund celebrates Cecil and David’s spirit. Their lives were a testament to the importance of belonging, and Achieva’s goal is to ensure every person with a disability has the same opportunity to experience the joy that comes from community participation.”
Since its inception, the Fund has provided over $100,000 worth of products and services to 155 people. The Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund is open to people with intellectual or developmental disabilities residing in the following Pennsylvania counties: Allegheny, Beaver, Westmoreland, Lawrence, Butler, Washington, Venango, Clarion, Clearfield, Jefferson, Elk, or Cameron.
