Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund Fulfilling Dreams for People with Disabilities

Achieva is pleased to announce the latest round of support for people with disabilities via the Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund, granting inclusive opportunities that turn aspirations into reality.

Pittsburgh, PA (Mar 28, 2024) - Achieva is pleased to announce the latest round of support for people with disabilities via the Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund, granting inclusive opportunities that turn aspirations into reality.

Since July 2023 (the start of the current fiscal year), Achieva has approved 22 requests for a total of $26,194. Items granted vary depending on the needs and desires of the requesting individual. Nick Sciullo, who loves Drake, had his dream come true when he recently attended the artist’s Pittsburgh show. Another applicant lives in a rural area of Beaver County and was granted a bus tour to explore new sights. Other recently granted items include an electric bike, hippotherapy, an annual gym membership, and karate lessons.

Recent contributions occurred through Achieva’s Pittsburgh Promenade, the organization’s annual gala and charity auction, where nearly $18,000 was raised for the Fund, and through donations in memory of Joy Rosenthal, mother of Cecil and David, who passed away on February 26, 2024.

Named after Cecil and David Rosenthal, the memorial fund honors the brothers by fostering inclusivity and enabling individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to lead enriching lives within their communities. The brothers were an integral part of the Achieva community until they lost their lives in the Tree of Life synagogue tragedy.

Steve Suroviec, Achieva President and CEO, said, “The Rosenthal Fund captures the essence of Cecil and David’s way of living. Their community welcomed them, and they took full advantage of what their community offered. We want the same for all people with disabilities - to enjoy life to its fullest and experience community belonging in their daily lives.”

Anyone with an intellectual or developmental disability who lives in the following Pennsylvania counties is eligible to apply to the Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund: Allegheny, Beaver, Westmoreland, Lawrence, Butler, Washington, Venango, Clarion, Clearfield, Jefferson, Elk, or Cameron.

Applications are accepted online. Questions can be directed to Jennifer Stoyer, Community & Charitable Trust Coordinator, at 412.995.5000 Ext. 493.
